Safety

Both the Niro EV and the Electrified GV70 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available front parking sensors.

Warranty

There are over 3 times as many Kia dealers as there are Genesis dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Niro EV’s warranty.

Reliability

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Niro EV’s reliability 19 points higher than the Electrified GV70.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Kia vehicles are better in initial quality than Genesis vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Kia fourth in initial quality, above the industry average. With 21 more problems per 100 vehicles, Genesis is ranked 13th.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Kia vehicles are more reliable than Genesis vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Kia above average in long-term dependability. With 3 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Genesis is rated below average.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2025 Auto Issue reports that Kia vehicles are more reliable than Genesis vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Kia 5 places higher in reliability than Genesis.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the Niro EV gets better mileage than the Electrified GV70 (126 city/101 hwy vs. 98 city/83 hwy MPGe).

The Niro EV can travel longer on a full charge than the Electrified GV70 (253 miles vs. 236 miles).

Suspension and Handling

The Niro EV has vehicle speed sensitive variable-assist power steering, for low-effort parking, better control at highway speeds and during hard cornering, and a better feel of the road. The Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer variable-assist power steering.

The Niro EV Wave handles at .87 G’s, while the Electrified GV70 Prestige pulls only .85 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

For better maneuverability, the Niro EV’s turning circle is 3 feet tighter than the Electrified GV70’s (34.8 feet vs. 37.8 feet).

Chassis

The Kia Niro EV may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1250 pounds less than the Genesis Electrified GV70.

The Niro EV is 11.6 inches shorter than the Electrified GV70, making the Niro EV easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The front grille of the Niro EV uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

Passenger Space

The Niro EV has 1.9 inches more front headroom, .2 inches more front legroom and .3 inches more rear legroom than the Electrified GV70.

Cargo Capacity

The Niro EV has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Electrified GV70 with its rear seat folded (63.7 vs. 56.5 cubic feet).
